9.025kW Solar + 12.8kWh Battery Installation in Kingston

Iconic Energy designed and installed a combined solar and storage system at a rural-edge property in Kingston, pairing a 9.025kW array of Aiko panels with a Sungrow hybrid inverter and a 12.8kWh Sungrow battery.

Sizing solar and storage together
Nineteen Aiko 475W panels give a 9.025kW array, matched to a Sungrow 6kW hybrid inverter and a 12.8kWh Sungrow SBR128 battery. Designing the two together is the point: the inverter has to suit the array and the battery at the same time, which is harder to retrofit than to plan.
Array size comes from daytime usage and roof space, while battery size comes from evening and overnight usage. The two guides worth reading are what size solar system you need and what size solar battery you need.
Integration on site
The hybrid inverter and the stacked battery are mounted together on an exterior wall, with the battery modules stacked into a single enclosure directly below the inverter. Keeping them in one place shortens the DC run between them and makes the installation easier to service.
