Array and configuration
Eighteen LONGi 440W panels make up the 7.92kW array, installed as a single run along the roof. Keeping an array in one continuous run simplifies the mounting and the cable path, and it is worth doing wherever the roof allows it.
If you are weighing up how many panels your own roof needs, our guide to what size solar system you need starts from usage rather than from a package size.
A hybrid inverter, chosen deliberately
The inverter here is a Sungrow 6kW hybrid rather than a standard string inverter. A hybrid inverter can take a battery later without the system having to be rebuilt around it, which keeps the door open for a household that is not ready to add storage yet.
If that is the position you are in, adding a battery to existing solar explains what is involved either way.

Switchboard and labelling
Solar adds a second source of supply to a property, so the switchboard has to show it. Circuits here are individually labelled and the main grid supply switch is marked, which is what lets an electrician make the installation safe before starting work.
